A short walk (400m) from Lilac Cottage, through a friendly sheep field, this lovely café is found in Craster Towers.

The Jolly Fisherman

This upmarket seafood restaurant is located in Craster village, a mile away from Lilac Cottage. It’s renowned for its fresh fish and seafood, including crab, lobster, and kippers.

The Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel

Two miles away, in the nearby village of Embleton, this pub serves up a wonderful traditional Sunday Roast.

The Running Fox

This artisan café and bakery started life in the village of Felton, and now boasts five Northumbrian village locations, including at Longhoughton, just four miles from Lilac Cottage, serving up a delightful afternoon tea.

The Ship Inn

This cosy pub on the beach is a real destination at the North end of Embleton Bay in Low Newton, serving light lunches such as home-made pies, soups, toasties and salads. Beer is brewed on premise, with such regulars as Sandcastles at Dawn and Red Herring, just as delicious as the names suggest.
